When Pets Pass On

I've been away from the blog world for a while but I'm back now. It's been a sad period.  During this time some of my dear pets have passed away. I don't know why but I usually feel the loss of a pet more than I do the loss of a person. Maybe it's because the pets are so close to me and with me all the time and they are so innocent and love without measure.

My most recent losses have been Bubbles, a lady Chihuahua, and Bluey, a talkative and lively budgie.

I bury all my pets in my garden and say prayers for them. I also ask Buddhist monks to pray for them because I believe that animals have souls and can ascend to higher realms.

Bluey the budgie was the most recent to go. He died yesterday morning and I wept and still do.  I buried him next to Bubbles because they always played together and for some reason Bluey really liked Bubbles.

Hopefully they are playing together now in some heavenly place where pets are safe from harm and loved by all around them.
