The methods of slaughter could include beating the animal to death or cutting its throat while it was still alive. You would have to tolerate the animal's screams of fear for they are intelligent and do fear death and feel pain. There's also the matter of blood gushing everywhere and then the actual butchering.
After all this your selected piece of meat is then cooked and presented to you as some gormet creation.
This already happens. In some seafood restaurants you can see your fish or crustaceans swimming around. You can catch what you want and it is killed, cut and cooked for you immediately.
However I believe if people see the animals they eat being slaughtered then most would not eat meat. Those delicious beef, lamb, pork or chicken dishes they like to eat would become real life walking talking creations and not a piece of something wrapped nicely in a plastic package in a supermarket.
Most people are not aware of animal slaughtering. Farmers and the food industry don't want them to think about it. From childhood people are reared to eat meat. It's developed as a cultural thing. Massive, expensive and perpetual publicity campaigns sell meat products to the masses every day of their lives. The numerous food programmes on television, food magazines, restaurant menus - almost all are based on meat dishes. It's amazing how brainwashed people are and how most fail to question the morality of killing other creatures or how animals are tortured and tormented.
I believe that in the future the people of this planet and others will look back on this time on earth with horror. They will weep at this dark and evil part of human history when we uncesessarily killed and ate other earth creatures daily, butchering them and slaughtering them in such barbaric ways. Not only that we were cruel to them and caused them insufferable pain and agony.
Why don't all religions forbid this? Why do governments not forbid it? Worst of all, why do we tolerate it?
