MERRY CHRISTMAS FOR THE BIRDS AND ANIMALS ?

Like most festivities in the world Christmas has become a time of gluttony.

Food and drink dominate religious celebration and record numbers of birds , animals and fish are slaughtered, sold and consumed in one of the biggest eating events of the year.

Meat in the form of turkey, chicken, pig, fish and crustaceans is the most popular for Westerner tastes.

Mass Produced Turkeys - Nothing Natural

Those who make money from killing and selling life, those who condone the killing by eating the victims - do not think it is wrong. Religion condones it for it does not object to killing and eating fellow beings - even at Christmas.

Some people may pray and think they are good and holy - sanctified by religion with no compassion for animal welfare or wildlife. I think they are missing the point.

It might be better if we called Christmas an annual Food Festival or Festival of Death - for death it surely is for the poor creatures who are eaten.

Fact is that over eating is plainly greed and killing and eating fellow beings is cruel and uncompassionate. But Christmas revellers will do it without a thought for the pain and suffering they cause to billions of other creatures in the world.

It can only be a Happy Christmas for the birds and animals if we stop eating them. I other vegetarians and vegans in the world will be wishing them peace and goodwill for they are our fellow travellers in a world that is already full of suffering.
