TIME TO SPEAK UP !
If governments were doing their job properly and truly planning for the future they would stop livestock production as soon as possible.
They might also charge livestock farmers for the truly massive damage done to the planet by the enormous pollution and water wastage caused by the meat industry.
It's not enough to say the political priority is jobs and letting the damage continue. It needs the vision to find news areas of employment and trade to provide jobs.
For too long Australia has relied on livestock, holes in the ground mining and the sheep's back. Times are fast changing and all nations need to move forward to develop new fields for the sake of the young people of the future - and the planet.
Currently world livestock production is responsible for more greenhouse gas emissions than all the trains, planes and automobiles in the world combined.
Globally livestock produce 130 times more waste than humans do - and it's usually untreated and unhealthy.
Livestock production causes 70 per cent of deforestation in the Amazon, 64 per cent of ammonia from acid rain and the decline of 15 ecosystems - and that's only some of the bad news concerning meat production.
We need to think outside the square to protect the future. Reducing or eliminating the damage being caused by the livestock industry is a worthy cause and those elected by us need to act now instead of being clowns performing in a parliamentary political circus.
Whether you eat meat or not - it's time to speak up and demand common sense action from those
overpaid desk jockeys we call government.
