THE ASIAN DOG MEAT HORROR

It's ironic that the Chinese were the first to domesticate the dog and keep them as pets and yet they now cruelly slaughter and eat dogs every day. Dog - and cat - meat is very big business in China, Korea and Vietnam.

Humans generally eat almost every other creature on the planet but there is something not quite right about eating dogs and cats. They have been domesticated for such a long time and are part of our lives, often faithful companions and protectors.

These same people also eat all other meats but some idiots believe dog flesh has medicinal benefits which is totally untrue. If anything it could bring on illness.
It's believed there are 11 countries that  still eat dog meat. Others include Indonesia, Mexico, Philippines, Polynesia, Taiwan,the Arctic and Antarctic and two cantons in Switzerland.

Despite protests by dog lovers the dog meat business is expanding. It's big money. Usually caged dogs are killed in restaurants by being beaten to death or cooked alive in boiling water after being skinned alive. Sometimes customers sit and watch. Now factory farms are being developed to farm dogs and dog meat in a big way.

What amazes me is the mentality of people who eat dog or cat. They have no concern for the terrible animal cruelty involved, nor are they embarrassed by Westerners disgust  at what they do.

The governments of these countries put on a big show about being "modern" like the West but do nothing to actually stop this vile practice which must surely be a national shame from a diplomatic standpoint.
The Chinese government basically has no animal welfare laws and like Korean and Vietnam tolerates these atrocities. Hopefully one day these people will wake up to the cruel reality of what they are doing. I'm amazed that religions allow this or say nothing against it.

Personally I think it wrong to kill and eat any fellow being. There's no need for us to eat meat anyway. But it's big money and big business in the world and people are brainwashed from childhood to eat meat.
There are dog lovers with pet dogs in these countries and brave people who are fighting against the cruel practice. They do so at risk to their lives because the dog meat people are like a mafia protecting their money source. God willing one day compassion will win and dogs and cats will be restored their rights as our good companion

God Bless the Protesters

There are things we can all do in protest. 
One is to boycott goods from these countries. In Korea, for example, this includes Hyundai/Kia, Samsung and LG. We can find petitions on the net and sign them. We can let friends know on Facebook and Twitter. We don't have to be part of this butchery.

Nothing matches the unquestioning love and devotion that dogs give us. Let us return their love.
