It's responsible annually for cruelty to and slaughter of billions of our fellow creatures.
It also causes great harm to our environment through air and water pollution and deforestation - among other things
It's called industrialised farming or Factory Farming - an ever expanding monster created by the meat and diary industry to increase its financial gain.
It's an evil world hidden from consumers, where animals never see natural daylight and are chemically force grown.
Horrific tales of its activities can be found on the internet but no proper protection is given legally to the animals because they are regarded as "product".
If you want to strike a blow against animal cruelty and factory farming it's as easy as being selective when you shop at the supermarket because what you buy - or do not buy - can greatly influence factory farming performance.
Factory food farms exist because unwitting shoppers buy their products not knowing the horror of how they are produced - everyday things like meat, eggs and milk.
Not buying these products- or buying less of them - helps the animals and the environment.
Also spare a thought for lab animals. Millions of animals suffer immensely in stupid product testing experiments. Look for household cleaning products and cosmetics that are not tested on animals. And then there are fur products. Animals are skinned alive to provide the fur.
On the food front cattle, sheep, pigs and chickens all live in a perpetual hell so that the food industry can profit financially.
The irony is that people don't even need to eat meat or dairy. There are many other fresh products that provide protein and everything else we need for good health.
Please -Take a deeper interest in what you eat and the implications of it.
