When you consider the world is designed for most creatures to kill and eat each other, it is surely unlikely there is a kind and gentle god in charge of everything. The world is more like a hell where savagery and slaughter are routine. Animals are religiously forgotten as fellow beings and regarded as man's meat
But it does not have to be like that.
Life is full of many kinds of suffering but we can stop or reduce the cruelty and slaughter of each other and other living creatures on this earth.
We do not have to obey any supposed "laws" of dominance, and survival of the fittest, telling us we are the superior species with right over all others.
We can mature. We can have compassion and pity. We can have respect for other life forms. We can change things. We can commune more closely with Nature as I believe we did long ago.
Religions are supposed to take us down this road of compassionate understanding but actually give higher priority to us obeying a set of man made rules that concern only humans and not other life forms. Religions in fact condone the hunting and killing of other creatures and their slaughter for religious sacrifice.
I believe cruelty to animals is immoral and the killing of them is wrong. You have see see it done to realise the horror of such practice.
It would be nice if religious followers had a broader vision that encompassed all life and incorporated compassion for all other beings- if they encouraged religious leaders to climb down from their pedestals and see the world as it really is.
To stay silent or ignore animal cruelty is still to condone it - to encourage the vile and insane slaughter of innocents who have feelings and emotions just like we have.
Please help animals . Don't just pray for them - eat something else.
