Samples from Animal Poems by James Larkin

Cat
I hold my friend,
So soft n sleeky,
He purrs and blinks,
I know he thinks,
It's time for sleepy

When you sit and eat your steak,
Think about the life you take,
You didn't kill him yes I know,
But you're the one that made it so.

Bird
So you eat its flesh,
Tasted as it is with other things
But would u not prefer a bird that sings
A song of freedom
and flies the sky on wings

When
When I die there'll be a place
where  all my pets will wait for me
so many friends with smiling face
together for eternity.
There's all my cats and my dogs too
sweet mice and rats and furry ferret
I know their names still yes I do
including budgies and white parrot

LES ANIMAUX

Today how many died
I do not know
I only cried
And felt their sorrow
And pray there wont be more
Again tomorrow
