Beauty is in everything
But some are blind to see it
Like flowers and trees
And birds that sing
And even a furry ferret.
Ferrets are like very playful kittens. To them life is non-stop fun full of joy. They bring happiness and laughter to your life and charm you in your darkest hours. Having a pet ferret is like having a kitten for life.
Ferrets are what life should be all about. Having fun and being happy. And they are totally gorgeous to look at.
They are a popular pet worldwide. In the USA, for example, they are among the most popular pets after cats, dogs and horses.
So I was dismayed to find ferrets are not on the official acceptable "pet" list of animal pounds and shelters and other organisations like the RSPCA - particularly in animal prejudiced Australian States like Queensland where even having a rabbit brings a $40,000 fine.
Ferrets in Queensland with no homes or who have been dumped are "put down" by the RSPCA - another term for Murdered. Their only hope of rescue is being taken over the border to New South Wales where nice animal loving people live.
Ferrets are also banned in the Northern Territory.
The more compassionate other Australian States accept them so it would be really nice if any dear ferrets who happen to be in the banana bending country of Queensland could be rescued and taken as ferret refugees to one of the free animal loving States.
Rescuing animals who are not accepted or cared for by animal welfare organisations is a big job because there are many. Ferrets are just one of many types but are nevertheless a very worthy cause.
My wife Sue and I own a sweet lady ferret named Candy (pictured). Life would not be the same without her.
If you are thinking of having a ferret think first of rescuing one instead of buying and do some research about them.
If you get a ferret please keep it for always. Actually you probably will never want to part from it anyway because they really really are such loving company.
