Just stop for a moment and think about it. From even where you are at this moment, all around you there will be something plastic. Almost everything that is made nowadays has plastic in it somewhere.
Unfortunately waste plastic is a major polluter of our planet - as bad as nuclear waste cos it takes a long long time to go away - if ever. Plastic bottles can take up to 1,000 years to biodegrade.
As garbage it kills land and sea creatures. Over a million sea birds and 100,000 marine mammals are tragically killed every year from plastic in our oceans. Nobody know how many millions of land animals and birds deaths are caused by plastic.
Almost everything we buy involves plastic wrapping or is made from plastic. There's water and soft drink bottles, plastic bags of many kinds, fishing line and nets, all kinds of accessories and toys - to name only a few.

And Australia has a population of only 23 million people. Imagine how much plastic pollution is made every day by the entire world of over 7 Billion !
Our land, seas and oceans are being choked and our wildlife is being killed by plastic every day.
But wait. There's worse.
The plastic is also killing us.
It eventually breaks down into small particles which animals, birds and fish eat. Then we eat it too.
So there are plenty of reasons for stopping plastic pollution and cleaning it up. We must change our habits and stop this cycle of death.
This is a global problem yet I have never heard any government in the world say it is going to do anything to curb plastic production, usuage and pollution.
They better start doing something soon before we all get plasticised. Tell government to act now and meanwhile you can help by protesting about plastic wrapping when you go shopping. For example, you can remove plastic covering from fruit and vegetable packets and leave it with the supermarket.
