It is a bit different than normal because as well as a selection of charming short poems it includes comment by me on various aspects of animal welfare and cruelty and the environment.
It raise matters like
the mass animal cruelty in stock and dairy farming
the gross cruelty in how animals and other life are slaughtered
how animals are slaughtered in streets while people watch as entertainment
I reveal the cheating and injustice of bull fighting.
I attack the horror of industrialised factory farming
And I attack Japan for its whaling and the killing of dolphins at Taiji

In addition I am proud of my short poems which come from my heart and are aimed at promoting compassion and empathy for all our fellow creatures.
I started writing this type of poetry 10 years ago when I first realised the gross cruelty being committed to animals and became a vegetarian because I wanted no part of such horror.
I have written general poetry - mostly romantic - since aged 13 until now and this is published in my first book entitled "Poetry by James Larkin". But the animal poetry is particularly special for me because I am hoping it may open some people's eyes to the reality of how cruel humans are to all other creatures and will promote empathy and compassion.
