Experts agree pigs have more intelligence than dogs and three year-old children. Chickens, cows, sheep and most other animals are also intelligent.
The animals also have feelings. They know fear and pain, love and affection, joy and sadness.
Yet every day we inflict terrible pain and death upon millions of them - in the name of a food called "meat".
And it is legal. It is not considered wrong.

Dairy cows may have their tails cut off. Male calves for meat are castrated WITHOUT ANAESTHETIC. Many are "disbudded" by having their horns scraped out of their skulls or burnt out.
Chickens have their beak tips burnt off. Masses of unwanted male chicks are gassed or ground up alive like garbage.
These are only a few of many cruelties prior to the final horror when animals are transported to slaughterhouses to be murdered without honour or respect.
In many instances their deaths are not quick and they are even butchered whilst still alive.
This cruelty needs proper legal attention and action worldwide. It's sad enough they are slaughtered but there is no need for torture.
What we are doing to our fellow animal life is shameful.

The meat industry is also doing enormous damage to the world's environment and water supply.
Governments and religions could revise their ethics and morals in relation to the killing of animals. But they do nothing.
But we can do something as individuals.
* We can eat less meat or stop eating it.
* We can protest to our politicians against animal cruelty and world pollution.
* We can stop buying products that involve animal cruelty.
* We can be honest with ourselves, regain our dignity.We can live and let live.
