It's duck hunting season in the State of Victoria, Australia. Despite public protests, the government allowed the shooters to go ahead. The result was many dead ducks - some of them rare species - and a polluting mess of poo, dirty toilet paper, bottles and beer cans left by the murdering shooters.
When I saw all those dead ducks ,massacred by permission of the Victorian Government, I suddenly realised how selfish we humans are. It's not just a case of animal cruelty.

We selfishly take their lands and waters and we kill them - even eat them - without a thought if it is just or not. Our actions are immoral but we ignore morality and compassion because we are selfish and greedy and think we are gods. That is so wrong.
How any true hearted politician can stand in a parliament and condone such theft and killing is beyond me - other than to say politicians are parasites and hypocrites who bend which way the wind blows for them.
People should think with their hearts and care more for the environment and all that's in it. Nature is our mother but we scorn her.
It's not just about ducks. It's about every living thing on this planet that we kill for food and fun. We are savages.
It's not just a case of empathy and compassion but also common sense and moral logic to help our own spiritual development and happiness.
Animals are not "things" put here for us to eat. That is total nonsense. These "things" are intelligent, sentient beings like us with similar feelings and emotions.
The horror must stop. We have to treat animals with respect. We are animals too. Government should introduce full rights for all animals - all life.
News Flash: Good News. Since the nasty murderous launch of the season Animals Australia and other animal welfare battlers like the Coalition Against Duck Shooting have managed to secure bans on shooters killing waterbirds in major Victorian wetlands.
Animal welfare is not a dead duck.
